History of Rock and Roll
Wilko Johnson & the Solid Senders, Music Machine, London, March 1978.

In 1977 Wilko Johnson was fired out of Dr. Feelgood, a celebrated rock band he had founded with Lee Brilleaux. With its tremendous, irresistible electric R&B and black & white image and photographs, Dr. Feelgood was the one single defining rock and roll band that pioneered punk rock in England. This early picture Wilko's new solo band at the classic Music Machine club in Camden Town was always one of my most popular. It remains unseen out of Europe. To me it sums up Wilko's striking, legendary stage act at his peak.
