In 1986 Neil Young and his then wife Pegi started The Bridge School to create an environment where their developmentally disabled son Ben could go to learn and overcome some of the obstacles he was born with. Every year since then, they have hosted the Bridge School Benefit. An all-acoustic concert that over the years has featured many of the biggest names in rock. This has included Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Who, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Pearl Jam, and many others. To end each show, Neil calls his friends out to join him on stage for a final song. Eddie Vedder of pearl Jam has been a strong supporter of the school and as a close friend to Neil and Pegi always comes front and center to bring the show to a close. In 2010, with headliners Buffalo Springfield leading the charge, Eddie joined Neil at the microphone where I made this iconic photograph of two close friends!
